      [128] Otechestvenniye Zapiski (Fatherland Notes ) -- a magazine which began publication in 1820, and after 1839 appeared as a regular monthly. Contributors to the magazine included Belinsky, Nekrasov, Saltykov-Shchedrin, Yeliseyev, and others. The revolutionary-democratic intelligentsia were grouped round Otechestvenniye Zapiski, which was constantly persecuted by the censorship until it was closed down by the tsarist government in 1884.    [p.451]
